what is the point of mono speaker?
i ask this because i bought a music dvd and it was in mono not stereo! why would anyone want to compress sound to one speaker?????? what is the point of mono? someone please tell me
Many older recordings and films were released in mono sound in the days before stereo or multi-channel sound. Sometimes the mono soundtrack is "re-engineered" to stereo or more, but unless original multi-track sound recordings are available this is at, at best, a "kludge".
Mono isn't BAD or pointless, it is what it is. Many people prefer the mono recording by the original artist to a more "modern" version since it preserves the original artist's work. Just accept that on some films or music recordings you are getting the authentic original sound. You might want stereo or surround, but then you wouldn't have the original recording.
If mono bothers you, simply look at the cover before buying and see what it says about the sound track(s).
