connecting speakers question?
i have a few bookshelf speakers and i would like to connect them to my computer, but i only have one output on my computer and the multiple input ones from the speakers. Is there any type of hardware I could buy that I could connect the speakers to then have a wire from that connecting to my computer?
You need an amplifier. The audio outputs on your PC are not amplified, they are designed only for headphone use or to be connected to an external amplifier which in turn would be connected to the bookshelf speakers.
You can purchase a '3.5mm to RCA' adapter to connect your PC's audio out / headphone jack to an amplifier with an RCA audio input (assuming the amplifier does not have a 3.5mm input already).
