English speaker :) What is Kitchen Tea and Hens Night?

I've got some design jobs to do, to design some invitation - 'kitchen tea' and 'hens night'. I know they could be related to marriage because the client is engaged. The client only provided me some date, times, location, rsvp, dress code etc details under each invitation, this make me hard to start the design. Could anyone please explain the two and the difference?

Thanks :)

A "kitchen tea" is the same as a "bridal shower": a reasonably subdued party when the bride-to-be and her female friends have a party at home. They play party games, and the friends bring useful/decorative household gifts.

A "hen night" tends to be a more raucous affair, when the bride-to-be and her female friends go out to party, get drunk in a club, do embarrassing things like hiring a male stripper, giving the bride rude and amusing novelty gifts, and so on.

PS Addition in the light of what Erik has said: terminology will vary with country. What I've said applies only for the UK, particularly for hen night. "Kitchen tea" isn't a term traditional in the UK, and the bridal shower is something of a new import from the USA that I don't recall existing here a few decades ago.
