Home made foil and penny high def speakers.?
This viral video has been going around for some time now but I just found it. I have to wonder did you or anyone you know try this and did you blow your amp / receiver / cd player/ ipod? Making speakers this way results in a dead short which will either blow output transistors or trip protection circuits. I laughed when I first saw the video on Youtube. I've been in the audio field for decades so I immediately knew that this was a hoax.

Yea, this is an old one from the early seventies.
I have tried it with several variations as a kid, but
had no results. I used an old RCA phono amplifier
that ran 6AU6 & 50L6 Electron Tubes. Nothing at all.
I don't remember where that idea ever came from,
but some bonehead back there probably thought it
was cool, or some kind of joke, to waste time. I
remember my father calling me 'nuts' for screwing
around w/ such a hair brained idea. Oh, well...
