how to hook up optical cable from blu ray to my bose dolby digital home theatre?
My old Bose life style 12 doesnt have optical audio connection but only the dolby digital rca cable connection. So far i got the blu ray hooked up on my bose L and R ( red and white) connection and it sounds good but i know if i can hook up the optical blu ray connection to the dolby digital,,,it will be better...or so i hope. Is there some kind of converter that can convert from optical to dolby ? Any suggestions appreciated.
There is no way to convert an optical connection to RCA so you are stuck with a piece of aging technology as far as the Bose...I ran into some problems with my Blu-ray home theatre-and learned that the only cable that will carry all the information required by a true 5.1 dolby movie or broadcast needs optical cable..as we are dealing with 5 distinct channels rather then a left and right and sub..Enjoy with what you have or get rid of the Bose and buy a Blu-ray with a built in sound system and make it simplier..
