The Boston G5's are a decent choice. They offer pretty respectable sound quality. I'm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but they are also on Crutchfield for $399 - buy one, get one free.. free shipping and warranty.

Here is an option to consider. Buy the buy 1, get 1 free for 399 and sell one of them. Then buy a GTR w/ it at some point. The GTR's are fairly impressive and add to your system w/o having 2 subs, and while still remaining w/ the same small 1 cubic foot sealed enclosure that the G5 utilizes. You can get one for less than 100 at a few online stores, and Crutchfield carried them for 129.

This would help for a few reasons. Little space to be occupied for a big bang, and you would only need the 450 watts for the 1 G5 (GTR doesn't take power, it's a radiator). Therefore, you could find an amp in your price range and do the sub Complete justice!

I'd say if you decide to stick w/ 2 G5's, here are a cpl amps to consider closest to your price range..

US Amps XT4000D ( wired to 1 ohm, but easy on gain)
MB Quart RAA1000
MTX TA7801
Hifonics BXI1208D ( I can't see putting Hifonics on BA, defeats the purpose! )
Elemental Designs NINe.1 ( Been hearing about these and watching them on ROE and Youtube )

If you only used 1 G5 w/ the GTR, I'd say JL 500/1. Very solid! Also, the US Amps XT4000D. It puts out 1500 @ 1 ohm, but puts 450 @ 2 ohm. Running at 2 ohms keeps it cool, while still having the power for 2 subs at 1 ohm if needed. Shop around for only using one G5, because you can find many nice amps in your price range.
